NCAA 2006 DIPLOMA MILL INVESTIGATION
Some people attempt to take shortcuts to reach strict NCAA initial freshman eligibility standards. These people abuse the academic process in order to meet the required scholastic standards. The NCAA diploma mill investigation looked at high schools and college prep schools that allowed students to get credit for academic courses that appeared to meet NCAA standards on paper, but in reality fell far short. Student-athletes needing an academic boost would flock to these schools and soon the schools would become diploma mills - an easy way for a student-athlete to meet standards without really having to do the work.
